Heinrich Friedrich Füger (1751 Heilbronn - 1818 Wien) - attributed, Portrait of a Young Lady with a Dove (Allegory of Peace or Innocence)

Heinrich Friedrich Füger, born in Heilbronn in 1751, is considered the best known artist of Austrian classicism. This half portrait shows a young woman in a blue dress, in front of a gray sky background torn by sunlight, in the left corner. She is holding a white dove; a symbol of peace. The great appeal of Füger's portraits lies in the ambivalence between the classical ideal of beauty, and a new, realistic description of the respective portrait. Oil on canvas, 60 x 47 cm
